ABOUT
Step back in time to an 1873 Italianate Villa surrounded by gardens and water features. We currently have two rooms available for rent with separate bathrooms that are down a small hall. The area is teeped in history. Relax on the large front porch with a cup of tea, at the back garden around the firepit, or swing and read a book under the grape harbor. The original owners, William Armstrong and his wife, are buried less than a block away and is marked with a large monument.
Please take time to chat with us while you are here. Hi. We are Cork and Sandi Mann and we have been so pleased to have Mamma Mann join our team too! We aquired The Rose in October of 2018 following a devastating house fire in which we lost everything. Nobody wants to think of starting over from scratch but The Rose has been a huge blessing to us in our healing times. We also bought The Rose so our daughter and our grand daughter could always have a home, but on February 24, 2024, after living here six years, she passed away due to blood clots developing after surgery, and our grand daughter moved to live with her dad. In August of 2024, Momma Mann joined us after selling her house at the age of 84! Yes, this Victorian Rose is truly a place of peace and healing. We do give military, clergy, return visitor discounts. Just ask.
OUR ROOMS
Our bed and breakfast offers two charming rooms, each with its own unique character. The Cassandra Room features a cozy sitting around next to the fireplace, a king size bed, and a view of the garden, while the Crystal Room boasts Victorian style, queen size high bed, and a fireplace.
OUR SERVICES
Delight in a delicious homemade breakfast served in our elegant dining room. During the week Monday thru Thursday you can choose breakfast items from a menu and they will be available in the refrigerator for you to warm up when you want. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, we provide a menu of breakfast items and serve them your way.
Various buy-up packages are available for you to purchase including a picnic package to cook hot dogs in the fire place or a romantic steak dinner for you to prepare on the grill.
Free Wifi
Technology has changed so much. In keeping with our step back in time design, our televisions are limited to bedroom spaces and are small as to not take away from the home itself. We do not have cable, but do have free wifi for your devices and offer ROKU streaming in rooms.
ALLERGY WARNING!
In the Bed & Breakfast, no animals are allowed unless they are a working service animal. PLEASE NOTE we DO have two outdoor cats who think you came to visit them and and three small dogs that occassionally bark in our inn keeper apartment but they do NOT go into the guest areas. The Cassandra Room does have an air cleaner which we keep running.
Our home is surrounded by pathways through many types of natural style gardens which could include poison ivy. Pathways can be uneven so please use caution. There are three fountains and two small pond areas for your relaxation and enjoyment.
Daily Housekeeping
Some guests prefer to be left alone so they can relax, others desire to have their rooms freshened up daily. Let us know your style and we will accommodate you during your stay.
We are normally only a phone call or a few steps away from you and will do our best to meet your individual needs which may be fresh bedding or towels, extra pillows, or just having someone to talk to, listen, or play a game with as time allows.
Outdoor Entertainment Area
As previously stated, there are walkways around the house in natural style gardens, benches, a stone seat, and much to explore including a pergula with vines growing on it next to a vegetable garden. Behind the garage is another gem of a garden area. Cook a hot dog over the fire or just sit and enjoy the crackling of the fire in the evening under the shade of the huge tree. Take a nap in the hammock or swing under the grape harbor. Check out the old fashioned cystern we have uncovered and are making into another water feature area with a gazebo in the future.
Food Preparation Area
The Grand Foyer now hosts a guest services area equipt with a microwave, small refrigerator with complimentary water bottles, an air fryer, toaster, and a Keurig with coffee for your convenience. Tea and snacks are also available.
Food is served on good china, but we also offer microwavable dishes should you desire to warm something up .

Engage in leisure activities such as hiking and cycling, or experience a visit to Amish Country. Discover the beauty of the region on a horseback riding adventure at Rocky Fork Stables 9.4 miles away or Salf Fork Stables 15.9 miles away.
Cultural Sites
Guests love to spend time in Amish Country in Holmes County. We are only 30 minutes from Sugarcreek and 44 minutes to Berlin. Sleep away from the tourist trap and go refreshed the next day. Coshocton is only 26 minutes from us and features a hot air ballon festival in June and alsoRosco Village is in Coshocton. Dennison features train rides and the Polar Express. We are only 15 minutes to that location. There are many great wineries around as well.
Seasonal Reasons to Visit
Many folks come to the area to see the fall leaves, shop for Christmas in Amish Country, spend a few days relaxing in front of the fire near a tree on Christmas, or coming to a beautiful home that will be featured in the 2024 Parade of Homes on December 8, 2024.
